Blackburst changeover and monitoring module
- Switcher for two incoming Blackburst signals
- Signal monitor with status indicator
- GPOs for error indication
- Optional SNMP and status indication via an internet browser
- Bistable signal output relays
This module can detect, compare and contrast two sources of analogue video sync signals for differences and real-time behaviour.
Each source may consist of one or two signals, black burst or tri-level, or mixed of both.
If a black burst signal with VITC is connected, the VITC will be monitored as well.
Both sources should generate identical signals and in the event of a failure, SB automatically switches to the other correct source.
The SB module forms the central part of a redundant video sync system and/or redundant VITC generator system, especially in a real-time application.
The SB can detect and indicate the status information of the below errors
- Errors or failures of video signals
- Errors or failures of VITC signals
- Any disturbances of real-time reference signals
- Time differences between both sources
Windows based PC or one of the RUB Ethernet modules (RUB IE or RUB PM) will be required to configure this module.
The RUB1 SB module is clearly labeled with SB on the front of the module
The RUB3 SB version is clearly labeled at the back plate.
The module serial number is located on the bottom side of the lower circuit board of each module.
In the event of a failure the signals can be switched autmatically or manually. The changeover is completed with bistable relays.
The relay contact remains in its last position even if power is lost.
The relays are mounted on a separately installed circuit board, so that even when physically exchanging a module the signal flow can continue without interruption.
LEDs located on the front of the module indicate the operating status.
Built-in GPOs can be programmed to signal errors or other pre-programmed warnings.
The backlit keys on the front of the module can be programmed to suit the user specific needs (e.g. a key could be programmed to manually switch incoming sources).
All programmable functions and the communication between modules are handled via a RLC bus.
The operating status of the module is available at any time via a status monitor.
The status request is made using a PC software utility via the USB interface of the applicable housing.
The firmware or additionally purchased options are installed via the same USB interface.
With an additional Ethernet module (RUB IE), a standard web browser can access all status information and configuration menus.
Monitoring via SNMP is also possible.
